Families joined together Thursday night at Brick Church: A LEAD Public School’s first Parent Steering Committee meeting of the 2016-2017 school year.
About 20 parents participated in the session, hosted by School Director Dennis Wolff and Family Engagement Coordinator Jake Smith. The evening meeting was part of a larger, ongoing effort to engage families in partnership.
"In order to engage our families, we have to be committed to open communication,” Smith said. “We as school staff must create space for families to interact with us and each other toward positive solutions to issues that face our school. These meetings are one of the many ways we seek to nurture families' voices. Our parents must be partners in everything we do."
The next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 15 at 5:30 p.m. The focus of the meeting will be on Title I.
